Academic Standing and Grades
Academic Standing
See Rules and Regulations Part VI on the Georgia Tech Catalog website.
A student's academic standing is based on both the Term grade point average and the Overall average. The minimum Term and Overall grade point average for a student to be on GOOD standing is as follows:

| Sophomore | 1.80 |
| Junior | 1.95 |
| Senior or Special Undergraduate | 2.00 |
| Masters or Special Graduate | 2.70 |

| DROP/DISMISSAL | Student has been dropped from the rolls due to academic deficiencies. Student may apply for readmission after an absence of one term unless this is second Drop/Dismissal. Students on Drop should seek advisement from their major school regarding future re-admission. |

Hometown Newspaper
Students that would like their hometown newspaper to receive notification for any term that they receive Dean's List or Faculty Honors, should do the following:
- Log in to Oscar.
- Select "Secured Access Login"
- Go to the Personal Information Menu
- Click on Update Addresses and Phone Information
- Select the "HOMETOWN NEWSPAPER" address type
- Enter a "Valid From" date (just put today's date)
- Enter "OK TO SEND" on address line one
- Enter hometown name in the "City" field
- Enter a State Code
- Enter your Zip Code
- Click the SAVE button
Students can delete this address at any time if they decide that they do not wish to have this information sent to their hometown newspaper. The newspaper to which the information will be sent is based on the zip code that has been entered into the address field. Entry of this information does not obligate a newspaper to print this information. Many papers print this type of information on a "space available" basis. Once this address type has been entered, it is not necessary to enter the information again unless changes need to be made to the address.
Readmission
The scholastic regulations regarding academic dismissal can be found on the registrars website. Any dismissed student should read these regulations very carefully.
A student who is dropped once for unsatisfactory scholarship who is interested in seeking readmission may apply after he or she sits out of the Institute for at least one term of the academic year. A student who is dropped a second time for unsatisfactory scholarship will not be readmitted to the Institute. The readmission application deadlines for students who have been dropped are posted on the registrars website. Readmissions is not guaranted for any student.
If you are interested in returning to Georgia Tech in the Ivan Allen College, we would like to offer the following suggestions:
- Contact your previous advisor immediately to see if he or she will schedule an appointment with you to strategize a future readmission plan.
- Be productive. Take a class (or take classes!) at another institute, seek employment, and/or volunteer for community service.
- Consider taking time to take care of yourself. Seek counseling. Seek the support of friends or family. Organize your personal, academic, and career goals.
The readmission process for the Ivan Allen College includes not only the Readmission Application for Georgia Tech, but also a one-on-one interview, so plan ahead and contact your school's Undergraduate Coordinator/Advisor several weeks before the readmission deadlines.
