Overloads and Permits

Permits and overloads are issued by the departments offering the course. Overloads and permits are handled differently in each of the Ivan Allen College schools so you should consult with your advisor how the process works for your program.

To apply for a overload or permit outside your major, please refer to the departmental contact list for procedures.

Some departments are now using the on-line permit/overload request system on OSCAR. To apply for a permit or overload on-line, see the directions below.

Students may request a permit/overload on-line from participation departments by following the directions below:

Go to OSCAR
Select "Secured Access Login"
Log in to OSCAR using your GTID and PIN (this is separate from your gt##### account)
Select "Student Services & Financial Aid"
Select "Registration"
Select "Registration Override Request"

For overloads, we also suggest checking the course availability frequently on OSCAR as many students are dropping and adding courses during registration periods.

Here's a Registration Tip:

During registration, you do not have to wait until your "time ticket" to register opens up to request and overload for a course that is full or request a permit for a class that has a restriction.
