I Am Ambitious - Paul

My Major: Computational Media (CM)

What attracted me to my major?

Computational Media struck me as one of the more cutting-edge majors offered at Georgia Tech. It aims to capture where the industry is headed and teach about it. In my case, I'm interested in the web and new media.

Outside the classroom I am working on…

My free time is spent either writing on my eponymously-named technology blog, PaulStamatiou.com, or working on my startup company, Skribit, with two other developers. Other than that, I am a car enthusiast and also enjoy running around Piedmont Park.

My advice for future liberal art entrepreneurs…

Students looking to start their own business or really pursue their interests in a professional matter should start by finding students and people with similar interests at Georgia Tech and nearby. For me that was finding the technology and entrepreneurial scene in Atlanta. I found that scene by starting a blog as well as searching online for tech events and monthly meetups. There are likely also related clubs on campus, such as MediaTech, to help out. Regardless of how you begin working toward this, the most important thing is getting your name out there and meeting people in the same space. They will be able give you advice, whether that be technical, legal, management, creative, or whatever your needs may be.

I got a Nike commerical from the right person seeing my blog…

I was in my own online Nike commercial after people at Nike had seen my blog posts endorsing Nike Plus. They flew out a video crew from Los Angeles to film me running around Georgia Tech campus and various parts of Atlanta.

What do I see myself doing in the future?

My dream job would be working for myself on a project that I am passionate about. Right now that's working full-time on my startup, Skribit, once I graduate.
