Our Activities at Ivan Allen College

Ivan Allen College Student Advisory Board

The IAC Student Advisory Board is a collection of Ivan Allen College undergraduate students who act as delegates for each of the nine majors and six schools that comprise Ivan Allen College. They serve not only for their majors and schools, but also as advisors to IAC and Georgia Tech administrators on issues that affect students.

International Affairs Student Organization

The International Affairs Student Organization is the undergraduate International Affairs student club which strives to promote cultural awareness within INTA by engaging in a mixture of social and academic events. Members of this group also pair off and serve as advisors to incoming freshmen.

MediaTech Club

The MediaTech Club is the undergraduate club for Computational Media students. The club serves as a round table for the exchange of ideas and also as a foundation for social relations among members of the CM community.

Mock Trial

Mock Trial is an intercollegiate competition in which students have the opportunity to learn about trial work, to understand the judicial system, to develop critical and analytical thinking skills, and to enhance communication skills. Students portray lawyers and witnesses in a trial setting. Hosted by the School of Public Policy, in the 2004-2005 season the Mock Trial team was runner-up in the National Championship Tournament held at the end of every season. This successful program is always looking for new talent so contact Kate Wasch for more information.

Georgia Tech Model United Nations Conference

The Sam Nunn School of International Affairs serves as a host for area high schools to compete in the Georgia Tech Model United Nations Conference in which Tech students mediate and help judge. INTA also supports a Tech Model UN Team.

STAC Society

The STAC Society is the Science, Technology, and Culture club which aims to bring together STAC students with other IAC students. Recent activities include a coffeehouse series, participation in a monstrous bodies symposium, a new website, and the STAC Lounge library.

Avant - Garde

Avant-Garde is the new fashion and arts society/organization on-campus. The purpose of Avante - Garde is to promote the student development of skills needed for a career in fashion while exploring different aspects of the fashion/arts industry. Whether you are the campus fashonista, the Iron Chef in your dorm, Georgia Tech's Next Top Model, GT's Best Dance Crew (or dancer), the next Picasso, the next Maya Angelou, a photographer trying to get The Shot or you would like to learn about and experience art in general, Avant-Garde is the organization for you!

Humanitech

Humanitech is a burgeoning new student organization with the goal of connecting skilled Tech students with community organizations to help them do what they do. This could be in graphic or web design, software training/development/modification, marketing support, or any other area of potential aid. The result is a gain in skills, experience, and portfolio heft for the tech student and cheap, quality labor for those organizations involved-- an excellent way to become more proficient in your area of interest and maybe help some people at the same time. Current Partners Include: the Red Cross- Metro Atlanta Chapter, Rescue and Restore Campaign, and the Cobb Symphony Orchestra.

INTA Ambassadors

Ambassadors are International Affairs undergraduate and graduate students who meet with prospective students to answer questions, take to classes, give mini tours, and recruit to Georgia Tech. They get to share with prospective students some of the things that they like most about Tech, especially as an INTA student. Ambassadors are a great group that serve to represent INTA both on and off campus.

"I wanted to join the IAC Student Advisory Board because it is the most effective student group within the college - and I now realize it is an example for the whole institute. It has helped me feel the most personal connection with Georgia Tech, by getting to know what it means to be a part of our IAC community." - Georgianna Nutt (GEML), SAB President 2008-2009
"Getting involved with an organization through your school or major really connects you to other students and faculty in your field. It allows you the opportunity to get to know your major and really embrace it." - Lindsay Anglin (PUBP), Honors Student
